Judge’s Consistency Reigns Supreme

Aaron Judge has been on fire for the past two months, and it shows in the rankings. His scorching hot bat has him firmly entrenched at No. 1, extending his lead over the competition. Even a relatively slow start to the season is a distant memory now, with Judge’s May OPS ranking 10th highest since 1901 and his June OPS coming in at 19th all-time.

Shohei Ohtani Heats Up in Pursuit

Shohei Ohtani, now with the Los Angeles Dodgers after a blockbuster trade, has seen a resurgence in his hitting with the recent injury to teammate Mookie Betts. Ohtani currently sits at No. 2, boasting a scorching batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage over his last 19 games. This hot streak puts him in prime position to challenge for a rare National League Triple Crown.

Gunnar Henderson Takes Another Leap

Last year’s AL Rookie of the Year Award winner, Gunnar Henderson, continues his meteoric rise, landing at No. 3 in the rankings. The young Orioles star is already considered one of the game’s elite and is on pace for a historic season.

Breakout Performances

Two newcomers have cracked the top 10 this time around. Steven Kwan of the Guardians takes the No. 6 spot after a remarkable return from injury. Kwan has been putting on a show, raising his batting average to a stellar .385 and showcasing surprising power at the plate. Joining Kwan is Royce Lewis of the Twins at No. 10. Though with battling injuries throughout his young career, Lewis has consistently impressed when healthy. His career OPS ranks second among all players since 2022, a written proof to his raw talent.

Other Notable Hitters

While they didn’t make the top 10 this time around, several other hitters received votes. This list includes established stars like Bobby Witt Jr., Freddie Freeman, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., alongside some of the game’s rising stars such as Jarren Duran and Elly De La Cruz.

The 2024 MLB season is heating up, and the race for the Hitter Power Rankings crown promises to be exciting. With established veterans like Judge and Ohtani leading the way, coupled with the emergence of young stars like Henderson, Kwan, and Lewis, baseball fans are in for a treat.
