Verstappen Takes Center Stage

Verstappen secured his 61st career win and fourth Spanish Grand Prix victory by extending his winning streak at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to an impressive three years.

This win solidified Verstappen’s championship lead, which he has held since his triumph at the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix – a remarkable 763 days.

Verstappen also tied Alain Prost and Fernando Alonso for fourth on the all-time podium list with his 106th career podium finish which was achieved on the same track where he secured his first podium in 2016.

Norris Springs Up as Consistent Force

Lando Norris continued his impressive season with a P2 finish, making him the only driver to score points in every Grand Prix this year. This result propelled Norris to second place in the driver’s championship for the first time in his career.

McLaren celebrated their longest podium streak since 2011-12 with Norris’ podium finish, marking their first at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since 2011.

Hamilton Makes History

Lewis Hamilton finally dusted off his trophy shelf this year, snagging a third-place finish in Spain. It wasn’t quite a gold medal moment but boy, it did rewrite the record books. This podium extends his streak to a mind-blowing 18 SEASONS IN A ROW!

Hamilton’s been on the podium more often than many of your grandmas at family bingo night. While the winless streak continues since Saudi Arabia 2021 (remember those simpler times?), Lewis is out there collecting podium finishes like they’re going out of style. At 39, the man is officially the third-oldest podium guy this century, following in the footsteps of F1 legends Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher.

Other Race Highlights

  • George Russell secured a P4 finish for Mercedes, marking the second consecutive race where Mercedes finished third and fourth.
  • Carlos Sainz maintained his perfect points-scoring record at his home Grand Prix, finishing P6 and becoming the only driver to achieve a 100% points-scoring record at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
  • Alpine enjoyed a really successful race with Pierre Gasly (P9) and Esteban Ocon (P10) scoring points for the third consecutive race, their best team finish of the season.

This strong showing allowed Alpine to overtake Haas and move into seventh place in the constructors’ championship.
